Yesterday, on a whim, I contacted the Rahr Brewery in Fort Worth to see if there were any possitions avalible at the brewery.  I promptly recieved an email back saying that they are seeking a brewers assistant.  I gave the guy a call today and we talked a bit and I have an apointment with him Tuesday!  It boils down to whether or not the brewer can work around my schedule since I'm still keeping my job at TI.  I'm hope-full though, and even if I don't get it the guy said that several volunteers work there already.

Also in September, Texas Instruments said it plans to lay off 191 Dallas workers whose manufacturing jobs are being eliminated and who couldn't find other positions at the company.

The layoffs will begin in early November and be spaced out until the end of January. At the time of the announcement, the company was also finishing the last of 233 layoffs from two other facilities in Dallas by the end of the year.

There are 13 people left on my shift in my Fab.  Yesterday and the day before they laid off 12 contractors.

Wonder if I can make the cut?

I took a specific gravity reading tonight to check on how the fermentation is coming along.  My OG was 1.073 and the reading I took tonight is at 1.022.  That calculates out to a current ABV of %6.681.  Fermentation still has a ways to go and the brew taste a bit sweet still, indicating that there are still sugars yet to ferment.  I'm not sure what the final ABV will be, but it will probably settle around the %10-12 range.  The flavor profile is coming along nicely.  I could taste the esters and phenol tones and it had a bit of banana and frutiness to it.

Today was a very productive day as far as brewing was concerned. I took a trip to Homebrew HQ in the crazy rain to pick up a diffuser stone/ filter set up, and a thermostat for the fridge to control my brewing temperatures precisely.  I also stopped by Home Depot to get an oxygen tank to use in conjunction with the airation stone.  My beer ingredients arrived in the mail this morning. When I came home I found the package on under the door mat. I also ordered a root-beer concentrate from Spreker brewery. The beer style for the batch I made tonight is a Belgian Triple.

I got the rest of my stuff out of storage yesterday so my room is nothing but boxes right now. I'm being lazy about unpacking and sorting it all out.

I got a job at 7-11 and I start training Thursday. I'm still looking for a better job of course. I'm hoping that with summer coming up I might have some more job openings.

Due to my lack of money and the absence of any transportation I've been confined to the house mostly. I really need to get out and meet some more ppl.

Kevin backed out of going with me out to NM so he could go to an anime convention insted. So I could use and extra hand to go with me out there. It's not nessesary but it would be nice to have some company on the long drive, and a hand to help unload everything. You would need to find a way back since I am only going the one way. I would be leaving around the end of this month. I don't realy expect to find someone this close to moving day but I thought I would throw it out there for anyone who might be interested.

*UPDATE*
I reserved the moving truck for pickup on the 27th. I plan to spend the day packing everything up and then leaving earlier the next morning Tue. the 28.

Change Begins with Choice: Jim Rohn

Jim Rohn is a Motivational Speaker, Businessman, and Self-Help Author

Don't wish it was easier; wish you were better.

Don't wish for fewer problems; wish for more skills.

Don't wish for fewer challenges; wish for more wisdom.

Any day we wish; we can discipline ourselves to change it all. Any day
we wish; we can open the book that will open our mind to new knowledge. Any day
we wish; we can start a new activity. Any day we wish; we can start the process
of life change. We can do it immediately, or next week, or next month, or next
year.

We can also do nothing. We can pretend rather than perform. And if the
idea of having to change ourselves makes us uncomfortable, we can remain as we
are. We can choose rest over labor, entertainment over education, delusion over
truth, and doubt over confidence. The choices are ours to make. But while we
curse the effect, we continue to nourish the cause. As Shakespeare uniquely
observed, "The fault is not in the stars, but in ourselves." We created our
circumstances by our past choices.

We have both the ability and the responsibility to make better choices
beginning today. Those who are in search of the good life do not need
more answers or more time to think things over to reach better
conclusions. They need the truth. They need the whole truth. And they
need nothing but the truth.

We cannot allow our errors in judgment, repeated every day, to lead us
down the wrong path. We must keep coming back to those basics that make the
biggest difference in how our life works out. And then we must make the very
choices that will bring life, happiness and joy into our daily lives.

If you don't like how things are, change it! You're not a tree. You
have the ability to totally transform every area in your life - and it all
begins with your very own power of choice.

Change is a part of life and takes part in making us who we are When
something we do not like happens to us, we have two options: to become a bitter
person or to become a better person.

I went in to pick up my check today like I always do on Friday, and I noticed
that there were two checks insted of my usual one. One was for the amount
$467.xx and the other was for $122.xx. I'm not sure exactly what its
all for but I'm not going to say anything. Hell Yes!
I have some money now. I was really worried that I wouldn't be able
to save enough for my move, and I still am in a way. This will help a lot
though and it made me feel a lot more relaxed.
Kevin and Zac are both on there way to Austin right now for Ushicon.
I have the whole apartment to myself for the weekend. I'm not sure what I
going to do b/c most of my friends went down to Ushi as well. Maybe I'll throw
a huge party and trash the place..haha right.

I noticed this morning at work that there is a small round bump that is black on the inside of my mouth. I am freaked out that it might be cancer or something. Maybe I'm over reacting but maybe not. I just want to get the fuck out of here, work, and have it checked out.

Update: Ok its just a blood blister from when I bit my cheek. I must have done it when I was asleep or something. The bad news is that I have to have a root canal and my wisdom teeth pulled and I have 6!cavities!!

Total cost..just under 6k.

I don't think so.

Mood: anxious

I have so much still to do before I move and I hope I can get it all done in time. I’m still planning on leaving sometime around the first part of February. I’m waiting to get my $300 bonus from volt before I go. Its $200 actually, after taxes.
My plan is to get a moving truck and tow my car behind it on a trailer, that way I don’t have to worry about it crapping out or not being able to carry enough stuff with me. The problem I ran into is that those trucks are ass expensive. Every estimate I’ve gotten falls in the $850-$1,200 range. I had no idea they cost so much. I’m really going to have to watch my money and scrounge for a while. I still need money for a storage place and money to live on. I just hope I can save enough. It seems like everyone is trying to get money from me too. I’m about to tell everyone to fuck off and just keep all of my money….to bad I can’t really do that.
The job situation and a place to live are still vague for being this close to deadline. I wish Marissa would figure something out with this apartment I would like to sub-lend from some girl. I can never get a hold of her and when I do she has no new information about it.
I’ve applied with Intel but their site is so fucked up I can’t get it to apply for the specific job position I want. I’m going to have to track down the number for their HR department and try and make some progress that way. I’m also going to call Volt over there in NM and see what they have open.
